How it started
Getting set up in 2020, Fyma set out to bridge the gap between physical spaces and actionable data. With its headquarters in London, UK, and a data science centre in Estonia, Fyma has spent years building, training, and optimising its proprietary computer vision product suite, which is patented in the US and accredited.

Karen Burns
Founder & CEO
With over 20 years of experience in business development and technology, Karen has worked across the UK, Europe, and internationally with both private and public sectors. She has overseen product strategy, fundraising, and the development of a patented AI product. Programme Director at Cambridge Spark and guest speaker at Cambridge Judge Business School, Karen studied real estate strategy at Oxford Saïd Business School. She sits on the UK PropTech Association advisory board and ULI's Tech and Innovation Council Europe, and is a contributing author to the 10F Consortium. A passionate advocate for women in STEM and leadership.

Head of Software
Kaarel Kivistik is a seasoned software leader specialising in scalable, high-performance systems. As Head of Software at Fyma, he drives technology strategy, ensuring the platform remains cutting-edge, reliable, and seamlessly integrated. With expertise in Kubernetes, Python, and modern web technologies, Kaarel has over a decade of experience in cloud-native solutions and distributed systems. Before Fyma, he led software development at SIFR and spent nearly four years at Mooncascade as a web architect and developer, mentoring teams and optimising workflows.
Madis Pukkonen
Software Developer
With 15 years of experience in software engineering, Madis specializes in data integrity, AI, and mapping technologies. Passionate about urban planning and analytics, they have worked on projects that enhance city efficiency and livability. Their background includes roles at Snackable AI, Guardtime, and HERE Technologies, where they developed AI-driven content structuring, data verification systems, and navigation solutions. Skilled in full-stack development, devops, and prototyping, Madis is committed to leveraging technology for smarter, people-centric cities.

COO
Ed is an experienced entrepreneur, startup COO and venture builder with particular experience in edtech, health tech and AI, in the UK, LatAm and the Middle East. Before Fyma, he was Director of Growth Operations at Focaldata AI, COO at Fire Tech (acquired by MyTutor) and Operations Director at Coschool. He holds a First-Class MA from Oxford University.

Strategic Advisor
Mike is passionate about revenue growth and developing Go to Market strategies; having spent 14 years in Proptech and SaaS where he focussed on developing high-performing sales and customer success teams, creating new channels, partnerships, markets and expanding into new territories. Working in the team responsible for a London Stock Exchange public listing and business acquisitions were notable highlights.
